Johann Sebastian Bach was raised in a musical family. But the artistic input from his Thurigian examples wasn't enough for him. In 1705 he therefore walked more than 450 kilometres from Arnstadt to Lübeck, where Danish-German Dieterich Buxtehude was creating a vibrant and innovative music scene. Buxtehude was famous for his flawless keyboard technique, but it was primarily his Abendmusiken concert series that was already legendary and undoubtedly a great inspiration for the young Bach.
