The exhibition devoted to Michaelina Wautier (1614-1689) will demonstrate the exceptional Talent of an artist who grew up at a time when female artists were a rarity. Wautier was not afraid to produce largescale history paintings - a challenge that many male painters shied away from. The 26 known works by her hand are remarkable for their daring subject matter and superior pictorial technique. The exhibition devoted to Michaelina Wautier is the first retrospective exhibition of the work of this Baroque artist. The exhibition 'Michaelina' is a production of the Rubens House and will exceptionally be hosted by the MAS.
