The great Allied offensive that started on 28 September 1918 ended the First World War. On that day the Belgians, under the command of King Albert I, together with British and French troops, attacked the Germans at the Ypres Salient. The Belgian Carabiniers-Grenadiers advanced into and gained control over the ruins of the village of Passchendaele after heavy fighting. Afterwards, the offensive advanced to Moorslede and Roeselare.

Exaclty 100 years later, their efforts will be remembered at the church in Passchendaele.
