Dear Friend of Flanders,

In view of the COVID-19-situation, specific safety measures and additional restrictions are currently in place across Belgium. You will find more detailed information on following website. For the latest travel advice to our country, please consult your local authorities.

If you are travelling to Flanders, Brussels or elsewhere in Belgium for a duration of 48 hours or more, you will need to complete a Passenger Locator Form, within the 48 hours before your arrival in Belgium.

Take good care of yourself and each other and keep it safe and healthy.

We hope to welcome you again soon, with twice the heart, love and hospitality.

“There are many walks to be enjoyed in this area”, says Edwin. “One of them is the Weldadigheidspad (Benevolence Path), which was adapted for wheelchair users and parents with prams.

The wide paths are ideal for wheelchairs or scooters, even in bad weather. The complete length of the walk is 7 km, but you can also opt for the shorter 2-km or 5-km routes.”
At the two departure points (Chapel-Colony and the 'De Kunstvrienden' hall) there are parking facilities and a map. “No need to worry about getting lost here!” says Edwin. “All the paths are signposted”.

At the Vagrant Chapel there is a mobile toilet. “No, that's not a toilet that follows you on your walk,” Edwin jokes, “but a temporary toilet with facilities for wheelchair users.”

Has Edwin inspired you to try out this walk? The Merksplas Tourist Office can provide you with more information on this accessible path: +32 14 63 94 77 or
