Meet our team
is an experienced marketing and business development leader who has worked for over 15 years in the travel industry in various capacities. Before joining VISITFLANDERS, Marco was the Director of Marketing for Scenic Cruises, a luxury river cruise operator. He was instrumental in establishing Scenic Cruises’ presence in the US market and in growing brand awareness and sales of Scenic Cruises in cooperation with trade and travel agent partners.
Prior to Scenic Cruises, Marco worked at IZON-Media, the leader in placed-based media solutions. Earlier in his career, Marco held positions at Acosta Sales & Marketing, a full service sales and marketing agency and at O2/BT, a telecommunications company.
Marco obtained an undergraduate degree in Marketing from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and an MBA from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Flanders.
After obtaining a BA in Business Management and Tourism and a career in various segments of the hospitality industry throughout Europe; Brecht joined the VISITFLANDERS team in New York in 2011 with a primary role of promoting Flanders as the prime destination for the North American Meetings Industry.
Brecht’s responsibilities include representing Flanders across all market segments of the meetings industry in the USA and Canada as well as creating, implementing and executing the North American meetings marketing and sales strategy. With a strong focus on customer service, creating solid partnerships and a tailor made service, Brecht is your go-to person for everything: from handling RFP`s to Site Inspections and Fam Trips.
In addition to serving on the board of the Professional Convention Management Association of the NY Chapter, Brecht is also a member of a number of industry associations such as SITE, ASAE and MPI.
is an award winning international journalist, who has worked for some of the major news organizations in the world such as CNN International, Fox News and ESPN. His reports on breaking news events around the world had lead him to obtain several awards and recognitions. Marcos has covered various significant events such as the aftermath of the Haiti and Chile earthquakes. He has interviewed leaders including Cristina Kirchner, Michelle Bachelet, Dilma Roussef and Vicente Fox and has covered other natural disasters such as Hurricane Mitch in Central America and Hurricane Sandy in New York. Carving a unique role for himself across television and digital platforms, Marcos was instrumental in developing the early social media strategy for the launch of ESPN Deportes in 2007.
In recent years he was in charge of YouTube operations for the Hispanic markets around the world while working at Google.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, his academic background includes a BA in journalism from the Catholic University in Argentina and Master’s degrees from New York University and Columbia University. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
After obtaining a master’s degree in Business Economics and a master’s degree in Work and Organizational Psychology at the University of Leuven, Wimke worked for VISITFLANDERS Brussels for over 9 years.
As a business intelligence manager she developed different management dashboards and was responsible for the annual marketing objectives and annual marketing reports. She worked on several marketing and organization projects and led project teams. Wimke played an important role in the implementation of the new international VISITFLANDERS marketing strategy and branding across the organization.
