Ann Demeulemeester

Ann Demeulemeester is an influential Flemish fashion designer, who graduated from the Fashion Academy Antwerp in 1981.

Together with Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene, Dries Van Noten, Marina Yee and Dirk Bikkembergs, she became known as one of the Antwerp Six.

Demeulemeester launched her own clothing line "Ann Demeulemeester" in 1985. Her designs are found in major fashion shows, from Paris to Milan.

In 2013, she left her fashion label in the hands of the French designer Sebastien Meunier. In any case, Ms. Demeulemeester had a message to send to any designers who were feeling worn down by the system, and considering stepping off the hamster wheel and getting some perspective.

Life after fashion? "It's fantastic"
