Walter Van Beirendonck is a Flemish fashion designer, who graduated from the Fashion Academy Antwerp in 1980.

Together with Dirk Van Saene, Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Marina Yee and Dirk Bikkembergs, he became known as one of the Antwerp Six.

Since 1983, he issues his own collections. They are inspired by the visual arts, literature, nature and ethnic influences. His unusual color combinations and a strong graphic influence are characteristic for his collections. He also designed the costumes for the U2 'Popmart tour' in 1997.

Walter Van Beirendonck received the honorary title of 'Cultural Ambassador of Flanders' in 1999. Today he is the artistic director of Scapa Sports and the head of the Fashion Academy Antwerp.
