Raf Simons

Raf Simons is a Flemish fashion designer who graduated in Industrial Design and Furniture Design and started working as a furniture designer for galleries and private interiors.

Encouraged by Linda Loppa, former head of the Fashion Academy Antwerp and now director of the prestigious Italian fashion school Polimoda, Simons became a self-trained menswear designer and launched his Raf Simons label in 1995.

His collections are strongly influenced by youth culture albeit in an indirect way. His style, described as “tortured yought” or “live fast, die Bohemian” often combines strongly cut classic menswear with sharp lines. His collections “Raf Simons”  and “Raf by Raf Simons” are sold at Barneys and Seven in New York and a variety of locations around the world such as two flagship stores in Japan.

In summer 2005 he was appointed as creative director for the Jil Sander label, owned by the Prada Group. On October 22nd, 2015, Raf Simons resigned from his post as the Creative Director of Womenswear for Christian Dior.

On August 2nd, 2016 Raf Simons announced that he will lead the creative strategy of the Calvin Klein brand.

His first collections will debut for the Fall 2017 season.
