Johan Museeuw Harrogate
To mark the UCI Road World Championships 2019 in Yorkshire, VISITFLANDERS will be teaming up with cycling specialist tour operator All Things Ride and the Corner Haus cafe and bar as well as Rouleur cycling magazine to offer a number of unique Flemish experiences. A host of cycling-themed activities are on offer, including a chance to ride with a cycling legend, as well as beer events such as a tap takeover and a special beer tasting experience.

Thursday 26 September 2019 –10.00 – 16.00 
Enjoy the Yorkshire Countryside with the Belgium cycling legend and "The Lion of Flanders" - Johan Museeuw. Winner of the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, three times each, he also won the Rainbow stripes in 1996 making him World Champion. Museeuw will be present at The Corner Haus eatery for some pre-ride nutrition and then for pre-ride checks before heading out for around 30 miles in the countryside north of Harrogate. There’ll be some complimentary Belgium beers and food before the Men’s Junior Road Race comes into the Harrogate finishing circuit at 15:30. The Corner Haus is conveniently situated on two corners of the circuit for some well-needed respite, between rides. Book your tickets here.
 
Friday 27th September 2019 –10.00 – 16.00
Another cycle ride around the Yorkshire countryside takes place on this date and finds its way via Otley for a refreshment stop at midday. As part of a tribute to Johan, who’ll be leading the way, Otley’s North Bar Social pub, famous for re-naming its pub after famous celebrities, will rename itself, "The Flemish Lion", in honour of Museeuw's nickname “The Lion of Flanders.  Also joining the stop will be the Town Mayor who’ll be present to greet everyone there. The race then heads back to Harrogate to finish at The Corner Haus, for some complimentary Belgium beers and food. Book your tickets here.
 
Saturday 28th September 2019 10.00- 15.30 
Another chance to catch an epic ride with Flemish Lion, Johan Museeuw. This time the ride takes on a 30-mile route through the countryside, north of Harrogate.  It provides the perfect opportunity to watch the Women’s Elite Race ascend Norwood Edge before riding out to some local climbs en route to Harrogate, with time to sample some post-ride food & drink at The Corner Haus later that afternoon. Friday 27th September 19.00- 21.30 at The Corner Haus Café Bar
On the eve of the UCI Championships Women’s Elite Race, acclaimed female beer sommelier Natalya Watson will be sharing her knowledge and passion for beer. Natalya regularly contributes as a judge at international beer competitions and is a frequent broadcaster and podcaster, specialising in beer. With three years’ experience at the Duvel Moortgat brewery in Belgium, her compelling stories and refreshing insight promises to bring a wealth of knowledge about the world of beer. Participants can also look forward to some delicious artisanal Flemish foods during the evening, expertly paired with some unusual thirst-quenching Flemish beers, during the event. Saturday 28th September 19.00 – 21.30 at The Corner Haus Café Bar
Hear from “Lion of Flanders”, Johan Museeuw himself at this unique event. With several successful wins in the cobbled classics of Flanders, Johan will be addressing an audience for a special talk about his acclaimed cycling career followed by a Q&A session joined by the Editor of Rouleur magazine, Andy McGrath. Johan will be regaling the audience his pursuits as one of the best classic races specialists of the 1990’s.
