Name a typical Belgian dish. Waffles? French Fries? It's true, our waffles and fries are very tasty, but we have so much more to offer. When in Ghent, try the cuberdon or 'neuzeke'. Antwerp is famous for its 'Antwerpse handjes', which are either biscuits or little chocolates in the form of a hand. Looking for more sweet things? Try out the unique regional cake called 'mattentaart', the traditionally baked 'speculoos' or Brussels' Pain à la Grecque. Other Flemish specialities includes 'stoofvlees' - also known as carbonade flamande - a delicious, warming beef stew made with Belgian beer, and waterzooi, a stew originating from Ghent, and made with either fish or chicken.
