FOMU - Photography Museum of Antwerp
The renovated Photo Museum promises - with a doubled area (9000m²) and the integration of the Film Museum - to be much more than a provincial museum for photography. Every four months other works are dug up from the collection of 40,000 photographs to be presented in thematic exhibitions. In the small gallery downstairs young or unknown photographers are given a chance to exhibit and the new wing upstairs accommodates contemporary photography, which does not only include artistic photos but also press, documentary, advertising and fashion photos. The Film Museum has now found its final accommodation in two brand-new film theatres in this renovated Photo Museum. The two film theatres can seat 230 spectators together and are equipped with the most modern equipment for the projection of all film and video formats. From now on films of all kinds of genres are displayed throughout the year, spanning the entire history of film.
