The museum is housed in a 19th century cardbord factory that originated from a 16th century paper mill. Today, the Herisem mill is an educational museum about paper, cardboard and drive technology. After years of being inactive, the 19th century board machines are once again being driven by water wheels and a restored steam engine to create a real-life experience of an old mill/cardboard factory. This is an historic industrial site where visitors can learn about the art of papermaking. Part of the former forge has been converted into an inviting tavern restaurant.
