The NAVIGO Museum invites you to take a historic walk through Flemish deep-sea and inshore fishing. Meet the Flemish fisherman’s family, the heroic Icelandic seamen, and the shrimp fishers on horseback - a unique, living tradition in Oostduinkerke. The rich museum collection unites the heritage, art, artisanal crafts and nature of the North Sea. The NAVIGO - National Fisheries Museum creates a dynamic climate for Flemish maritime heritage. A rich museum collection presented in life-like scenes, a fisherman’s cottage, a fisherman’s café and a memorial park put you at the helm of this museum. With its interactive approach, varied exhibitions and focus on the history, the present day and the future of North Sea fishing, the museum shows and strengthens the unique connection between mankind and the sea. The high level of the museum’s interactive experience is mainly due to the various hands-on elements. The inshore fishing vessel OD.1 "Martha", and the underwater world with the North Sea aquaria below it, complete the picture. The museum houses a special international-level collection, and provides a hospitable meeting place for young and old.
