The modern Museum M, built in 2009 on top of the site of an older museum, houses Leuven’s art collection. Featuring historical works from the Gothic period, as well as the 19th century, M is also home to a burgeoning contemporary art collection. But the building itself is equally interesting, as it was designed by Belgian architect Stéphane Beel to include old and new, such as the incorporation of the former university college of Saint Ivo faculty of science into the main entrance.
