The Triennial of Kortrijk will take place from 26th of June to 24th of October 2021. ‘Paradise’ is the name of the international contemporary art project that will be shaped in the city. Kortrijk, along the River Leie in the South of West-Flanders is rich on history and heritage with the Broel Towers as its symbol, its own Belfry and even its 13th century UNESCO World Heritage Béguinage. At the same time, it has an incredible creative soul, with a strong reputation of craftsmanship, quality design and entrepreneurship. That’s why Kortrijk was awarded with the membership of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Paradise Kortrijk is born in this context and invites national and international contemporary artists to participate and reflect on modern questions by installing new and existing artworks in the dynamic city. How do these artists see and interpret the utopian dream of paradise? How would they try to improve our society and our world? Paradise Kortrijk is a dynamic and free festival of contemporary arts, organized by the City of Kortrijk, Belgium and Be-Part. Curators: Hilde Teerlinck and Patrick Ronse. Paradise aims to reach a large public, including the very youngest among us. Highly recommended for families with children.
