To break the front, the Allied troops launched a major attack on 31 July 1917. The themed weekend 'The Long Road to Passchendaele', organised by the Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917, commemorates this effort. The weekend starts with a memorial service at the Scottishc monument at Frezenberg in Zonnebeke. At the chateau grounds, an international tattoo with pipe bands present an impressive sound and light spectacle on the evening of 19 August. Over the weekend, visitors can witness several themed activities. The focus is on living history, giving visitors a sense of stepping back in time.
