University Library & Bell Tower
Burnt to the ground by the Germans in WWI, this fully functional library was built in 1928 as a war memorial, thanks to donated funds from numerous high schools and colleges, the majority American. The warm and welcoming reading room is made of wood, from the floors to the shelves. The nearby 73.5m bell tower features 63 bells weighing a total of 35 tonnes, but most come to take in the great views of the town after nearly 300 steps to the top.
