Flanders welcomes everyone! 💛 On World Tourism Day, we're celebrating the people who make Flanders what it is — not just the places. A destination is only as welcoming as it feels to everyone moving through it: on foot, on wheels, or with the whole family in tow. Here's what that looks like in the northern region of Belgium. Save this for later — everyone's invited. Link in bio! 📌
Flemish masterpieces with a feminine touch. 🖼️✨ Discover Mechelen’s extraordinary Enclosed Gardens — intricate late-medieval masterpieces crafted by women and filled with flowers, relics, beads and tiny treasures. See seven of them at Museum Hof van Busleyden, a magnificent 16th-century city palace, then explore the historic heart of Mechelen. A hidden gem worth discovering💚 Link in bio ⬆️
He may not have existed at all, and was never a real king. Yet he became known as the King of Beer. 🍺👑 One version of the legend tells of Gambrinus, linked to Jan Primus, Duke of Brabant, and celebrated as a patron of brewers. Over time, the stories grew — and the legend endured. What’s real is the craft behind the legend. In 2016, Belgian beer culture earned UNESCO recognition, celebrating the brewing traditions that continue to thrive today. --- Drink in moderation. Alcohol abuse harms your health.
Poperinge's Beer and Hops Festival is the reason you came. 🍻🌱 The hop fields, the WWI history and that snug market square are why you'll stay all weekend. Save the date (18–20 September 2026) — plan your Poperinge trip. --- Drink in moderation. Alcohol abuse harms your health.
'There's nothing outside the cities.' Sure, if you skip four national parks, a river valley that inspired an entire generation of painters, and heathlands still glowing purple with heather. 🌳🖼️ Flanders' cities get the spotlight, but step outside them and you'll be surprised. 📌 Save this for later — your next trip doesn't have to stop at the city limits.
Flanders' nature doesn't ask you to choose between accessible and beautiful. 🌳☺️ Roll through a botanical garden that's one of Europe's largest, cycle straight through the middle of a lake without getting wet, or explore heathland by wheelchair tower. Adapted bikes, paved paths and barrier-free trails mean: in Flanders the outdoors is for everyone. Save this for later — plan your accessible trip to Flanders. ⬇️ Comment ACCESSIBLE and we will send you the links
September in Flanders is packed with reasons to get out and explore. Think beer gardens on medieval squares, vineyards opening their gates, heritage doors unlocked for one day only, an international music festival in Ghent and Antwerp celebrating 40 years of fashion that put the city on the map. 🗺️ It’s a brilliant month to discover Flanders — you just need to know where to look. 👀 Comment “SEPTEMBER” below and we’ll DM you all the details. --- Drink in moderation. Flanders keeps a few secrets up its sleeve. 👀 A floating staircase. A bar where your shoe will be lifted to the ceiling when you order a beer. A 42-miles open-air art museum. Giant trolls hiding in a festival field, and 1930s wooden escalators running under a river. Which one's new to you? 👇 Save this for your next weird and wonderful Flanders road trip. --- Drink in moderation. Alcohol abuse harms your health.
A sea of purple at Kalmthoutse Heide in Flanders 💜🌿 From mid-August to mid-September, the purple heather transforms Kalmthoutse Heide into one of Belgium’s most beautiful natural landscapes. The 12.4 km Flanders’ Finest Hiking Route winds through sand dunes, open heathland and grazing sheep, with breathtaking views from two lookout towers. As a three-star silence area, it also offers remarkable tranquillity. More information via the link in our bio 🔗 📷© Bart Heirweg #VisitFlanders #BelgianNature
Some say you need a car to get around Flanders. 🚗💨 We say: absolutely not. 🙂‍↔️ Hop on a train and you're in another city within less than an hour. Follow the cycling junction network from village to village. Or ride the "Kusttram" all the way along the Belgian coast. Leave the car behind and see everything Flanders has to offer in a more sustainable way! Save this for your next trip.
