You'll be staying in the heart of the historic city centre, within convenient walking distance of the main sights. Be sure to explore the courtyard garden, which is a pleasant place to relax. Hof van Aragon is the ideal base from which to explore Lier.
Day 2
Boat trip on a traditional eel barge
Did you know that Lier residents are nicknamed 'schapenkoppen' (sheep heads)? What was once said mockingly has grown into a badge of honour and symbol of quirkiness, good humour and connection with their city.
Dining tip!
Feel like a break with a view of the water? The De Zimmer café (Zimmerplein 18) is located along the Nete, right next to the Zimmer Tower. The city centre is home to various shops selling local products perfect for a picnic along the water. A delicious break at one of Lier's most scenic locations.
Cycling along the Nete
